MONTCO Jazz Fest with Ralph Bowen, Uri Caine, Madison Rast & Tom Cohen

Jazz Bridge is proud to partner with the MONTCO Jazz Fest to present internationally acclaimed saxophonist Ralph Bowen, Grammy-nominated pianist and composer Uri Caine, one of Philadelphia's most in-demand bassists Madison Rast, and veteran drummer and Brazilian jazz specialist Tom Cohen at Cigar Republic on September 19 at 8:00 PM.

The MONTCO Jazz Fest celebrates the rich tradition of jazz by bringing world-class musicians to venues throughout Montgomery County. Proceeds from this performance will benefit Jazz Bridge, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting jazz and blues musicians in the Greater Philadelphia region through emergency financial assistance, community programming, and performance opportunities.

About Ralph Bowen:

For more than three decades, saxophonist Ralph Bowen has been a leading voice on the New York jazz scene and a sought-after performer around the world. A Juno Award winner and Grammy nominee, he has appeared on more than 70 recordings and released eleven albums as a leader. Bowen has performed and recorded with renowned artists including Horace Silver, Michel Camilo, Orrin Evans, Renee Rosnes, Kenny Garrett, and Steve Wilson, earning a reputation for his powerful sound and masterful improvisation.

About Uri Caine:

Grammy-nominated pianist and composer Uri Caine is a Philadelphia native whose career has bridged jazz, classical, and contemporary music. Since moving to New York, he has released more than 30 albums as a leader while performing at major jazz and classical festivals around the world. Known for his imaginative arrangements and original compositions, Caine has also written works for leading orchestras and ensembles and collaborated with artists including John Zorn, Dave Douglas, Don Byron, and Sam Rivers.

About Madison Rast:

Originally from North Carolina, bassist Madison Rast has become one of the Philadelphia area's most respected and in-demand jazz musicians. He has shared the stage with artists including Orrin Evans, Sean Jones, Larry McKenna, and Mickey Roker, and has performed with the Captain Black Big Band since 2018. Rast also appeared on A Philly Special Christmas Party alongside Jason Kelce and Stevie Nicks and continues to be a fixture on the region's vibrant jazz scene.

About Tom Cohen:

Philadelphia drummer Tom Cohen has built a distinguished career performing jazz and Brazilian music as both a bandleader and sideman. He has collaborated with acclaimed artists including Chris Potter, Joey DeFrancesco, Uri Caine, Orrin Evans, Shirley Scott, and Donny McCaslin, while also serving on the faculty at Temple University. His most recent release, Embraceable Brazil, showcases his deep appreciation for Brazilian music through inventive arrangements and thoughtful production.
